Idle Thoughts

Scott Savol looks like he he been using too much Ronco Spray-on Beard.

If nothing else, Nadia Turner’s mohawk should have kept her out of the bottom three.

A hot pink bra under a wife beater is just not sexy. Especially not for a 17 year old who “can’t cook, can’t clean and can’t walk her own dog”.

Yep, she didn’t look Idol-ish. (Just ask Barf.)

Here’s a Quarter

A bulk email from work today:

Class room training sessions on the [very expensive phone system] features have been scheduled in on [the six month anniversary of your move to this fine new facility] in Conference room [Two (Small)]. These classes will be [overcrowded] on a first come [none] serve basis or (25 persons at a time).

Information Technology Center Operations and Services Manager

Hmm, back around the first of October I did a search online and found the manual for the phones and printed it out so everyone in my area could use it. And I’m not sure I’d want to get stuck in a conference room with the people that can’t figure out how to use the phone system.

More American Idle

With my picks for American Idle this year, I am actually getting them out before everyone that I like gets voted off.

Artists that I wouldn’t mind seeing win: * Anthony Federov - A euro-pop sensation * Carrie Underwood - Country Superstar * Anwar Robinson - Like Milli, but with talent * Nadia Turner - The black Q-Tip (cut into a full height mohawk tonight)

Artists that I really don’t like that much (in no particular order): * Scott Savol - The wanna-be blackest contest left. * Bo Bice * Nikko Smith - Urkel Jr. * Vonzell Solomon * Constantine Maroulis * Mikalah Gordon - Funny she, doesn’t look druish. * Lindsey Cardinale - Didn’t like her, already gone. * Jessica Sierra - Yeah, it’s kind of like that.

And if I don’t say anythign useful, check out Survivor Sucks.

From a recent comment:

I do like this blog a lot. thanks for keeping all the spammers off it.

And, they were nice enough to include a link to their home page:

Unfortunately, due to MT-Blacklist, I may never hear from these nice people again. What a shame.

The News is For Whiners

I realized last night that there is a good reason I stopped watching the nightly “news”. It’s no longer about what important happenings are in the area, but rather how horrible life is for people since someone is out to get them. The three stories that I remember from last night:

Three seniors are complaining that thye are being forced to move out of their homes after many years (55 years in the case of the woman shown). She had raised a large family, but has lived alone since she was widowed 10 years ago. * She is being moved out of a three bedroom townhouse and been offered space in a one bedroom apartment in a highrise. * The townhouse is subsidised public housing. * There are many young families on a waiting list to get into town houses like this.

Some residents are complaining about the name of the new minor league baseball team, the Worcester Tornadoes. (In the mid 20th century, tornadoes decimated a good portion of central Massachusetts.) The residents feel that the baseball team owners are making light of the tragedy and are trying to profit off the misfortune of others. Residents noted that the name of “Warriors” also finished well in the voting (and wouldn’t offend anyone still alive).

Drivers across the Zakim Bridge were also complaining that snow that had stuck to the bridge supports was falling onto the road surface as the sun heated the bridge. The drivers interviewed were adamant that the city do something about this for the next time it happens. If these drivers are worried about falling snow, apparently they haven’t driven on the highway around the city where many people think that is is a great idea to not clear the snow off their car and cause white-out conditions on the roadway when is blows off as they speed down the road. (Or, more likely, the snow and ice blow off in large chunks which can completely block your windshield.)

The $35 Class-Action Buyout

Late last year, Philip Morris USA, Inc sent out MasterCard Debit Cards (pre-loaded with $10) in promotion of some anniversary that the company is having. By sending in 125 Marlboro Miles an additional $25 would be added to the balance on the card. why are they doing this? The answer can be found in the last paragraph of the fine print of the Rewards Program Rules:

By use of this card, you agree that any and all disputes of any kind between you and the Rewards Program Provider (Philip Morris USA, Inc) and its directors, officers, employees assigns and affiliates will be resolved either through arbitration…or in a small claims tribunal in your state. By accepting these terms, you specifically waive the right to a jury trial; and you specifically waive the right to participate in any way in any class action, private attorney general action, or any collective action.

I don’t know if it will hold up in court, but it sounds like a damn good plan to me.

Alex and Herbert

Lately I have been worried about my friends Alex and Herbert and their refusal to go to a traditional doctor. They have instead, been relying on their local “natural” healer. So I sent them a telegram saying I feared they would both meet their death if they did not go to the hospital now.

They sent me a letter back thanking me for my support of their natural healing!

What could I have said wrong?
