Old Cameras Found with Unprocessed Film

Sensible Erection posted a link to a site that publishes pictures which were recently developed, but originally exposed many years ago and forgotten.

The pages below show prints I made from processing film I found in old cameras. In many cases the exposed films were over fifty years old. You are seeing them for the first time as they were lost by the photographers that took these images.

It is a very interesting experience looking at the old photographs. An amateur look at a time gone by.

Google Makes Me Hungry

I was doing a web search to find out more information on “Los Souvenir Jaquitos“. Google asked me if I wanted some taquitos.

Not quite what I had in mind, but thanks for the suggestion.

Who’s Next?

In my real life, I work on a radar simulation, where an Executive Planner plans to service each of the radar volumes in turn. So as I was watching today, the planning went like this:

Executive : OK, who needs service next?

Radar Action : Ohh, ooh, me, me!

Executive : OK. You’re up.

[Processing...]

Executive : OK. Turn’s out, we can’t service you this time. Try again later.

[Processing...]

and so on. Forever

Dangerous Bool

In the bug list of a simulation I work on at my day job is a change request to get rid of danger: “Replace Dangerous_Bool with a safer alternative”

Some time ago, to make on aspect of a program I was working on faster, I enabled an input option that would tell the program to use cached data. This sped the program up greatly, but could also have gerat consequences, because there was no way to check if the cached data was still valid: it was just being used blindly.

So instead of making the enabling flag a boolean, it was made a dangerous bool. To enable a standard boolean, you can set the value to true, but to enable a dangerous_bool you have to set the value to true_and_I_have_read_the_manual. It probably is a good time to start looking for safer alternatives.

Don’t Worry, Be Happy

Last week, we were worried because we found some major defects in the software requirements that we had written. According to the software lead, there is no need to worry. They didn’t use the requirements to write the actual software anyway.

A Good Excuse

Q. Why didn’t you answer when I called?

A. My phone was in my pocket…I just wasn’t wearing my pants.
