In regards to a question I asked today, my (interim) task lead said:

If this question continues to percolate, our position is that the engineers are not malicious malcontents.

On the whole it was like a $30 e-mail (owing to all of the five dollar words her used).

Every time I hear Kris Kristofferson introduce 8th of November, I get a picture in my head of Gary Busey (as he appeared in the short film “Get Out of My Dreams and Also Out of My Car: A Guide to Your Restraining Order” in an episode of the Simpsons’, with the rambling: “Now Joe can’t come within 500 feet of Mary. He also can’t call her, or burn his name in gas on her lawn. I’m gonna let you in on a little secret, Joe is me. And Mary is a composite of 12 different women and a small independent film company all of whom couldn’t deal with me because I’m too real.”)

What does it all mean? Hopefully nothing. I can’t stand that real.

I was trying to delete a file from a Windows network share at work when I got an interesting error:

Perhaps I should try deleting a different file?

Or, if you’re actually having this error, and trying to delete the file, it is likely that the filename is exceeding the maximum path length (for some reason). Try moving the files up a directory, and then deleting them.

In response to an inane question, my boss, who couldn’t hurt a fly if he tried, said

Of course I know that, I’m not completely brain dead.

I think it is the most negative thing I’ve ever heard him say.

From the newsletter at work on October 16th (Tuesday):

Many people will be logging overtime from this past weekend due to inventory. You must have entered your hours by 9pm on October 15 [Monday] if you wish to be compensated on the next paycheck. All items logged after October 15 will not be scheduled for approval until the following pay period.

What was the point of this “news”? To say neener, neener, neener, you can’t get paid now!

Over past week I have been trying to call our pediatricians office to resolve a billing issue. Apparently, though the group of pediatricians is in my insurance network, the specific doctor (who is new) is not. So anything with that doctor’s name on it will be denied, while her examinations billed without her name (just the practice name) will be paid. It makes no sense, but those are the rules.

In 4 calls to the office I have learned (in order):

• They open at 10am
• They close at 4pm
• They are at lunch from 12:15 - 1:30
• They are out for the rest of the day

I left a message. She’s supposed to call me now.

Some of my friends I went to school with the were in the local paper the other day talking about their veggie-oil powered car. I had no idea they had one.

A while back, I talked about roundabouts being [the spawn of satan[1], and now there is proof it is true. Two men were killed in a roundabout a few days ago. Apparently they didn’t realize that it was a turn and trying to go straight across (with concrete barriers in the middle) would not end well.

When will the carnage end? Hopefully not until it takes out a few more idiots.
