AT&T Wireless Customer Support
If you need to call AT&T Wireless Customer Service (i.e., who you would get calling 611 from your wireless phone), you can also reach them by calling 800-331-0500. This works from any other wireless phone or landline. This is available on their website, but I couldn’t find it without resorting to Google.

When Will The Carnage End?
A while back, I talked about roundabouts being [the spawn of satan[1], and now there is proof it is true. Two men were killed in a roundabout a few days ago. Apparently they didn’t realize that it was a turn and trying to go straight across (with concrete barriers in the middle) would not end well.
When will the carnage end? Hopefully not until it takes out a few more idiots.

Countrywide’s Service Minus
From my email box today, I found out that I have “been specially selected to receive Service Plus—an exciting new breakthrough in speed and convenience, exclusively for Countrywide customers.” By “specially selected” they mean that I am one of the only customers so far that has not succumbed to their huge marketing push for this “opportunity”.
“Say good-bye to your paper monthly statements. With Service Plus, you can make payments, manage your account, and learn about special money-saving offers—all online. In fact, this new process offers so much more than the snail-mail approach that we won’t be bothering you with paper statements in your mailbox anymore.” In fact, if you want to sign up to pay online, you have to consent to get ALL paperwork about your mortgage online via email.
“Instead, they’ll be conveniently available online, where you can access and/or print them whenever you want. Best of all, Service Plus is free!” Whereby free, they mean cheaper and more lucrative for them since 1) they don’t have to send out monthly and 2) they can feign ignorance if the statement gets eaten by a junk mail filter or otherwise never makes it to you and you get hit with some late charges.
Only the best for our customers. And they want me to re-finance?

Inbox Zero? Nineteen Is Close
Last year sometime, I read the series on 43 Folders on InboxZero and it made a lot of sense. Get rid of all of the mail in your inbox at the end of the day and your life will be much happier. And since then, it has been a quest.
Long ago I figured out that if I moved emails out to folders I would never see them again. And items in the “to do” folder would just stack up. So I leave things that need something done with them in the inbox. And I am finally down to nineteen, the oldest of which is now only three years old. (Well, up until a month ago, the oldest was from November ‘02.)
So I should hit zero sometime soon. Eventually. And life will be good. And I can start on my other email accounts.

Save on Gas
Yesterday the Indy Star posted a question on their website: What are you doing to save on gas?
I think poster Wally summed it up best: I go real slow in the left-hand lane. not only do I save gas, but all the other commuters behind me do also.
