Comcast: Missing the Point

After royally screwing up my order and sending me a bill for over twice what it should be, I figured that it would be easy to log on to their website and look at an updated copy of my bill. Yeah. That would make way too much sense:

> Welcome! We’ve noticed that you’re either a new Comcast customer or have recently changed services to your Comcast account. These changes are new to your account, which means that your bill reflects costs for a partial month of service. Please note that this change of service impacts your billing statement and makes online bill view unavailable at this time. More information on partial month billing can be found in our frequently asked questions (FAQs). Thank you for choosing Comcast!

Perhaps I could use the automated phone system to answer my questions? Nope. The automated phone system (which asks for a 10 digit phone number) cannot find my account because it is not a number in the local area code.

So can I call 1-800-COMCAST? Nope. It will switch me into the local office for my phone–not the office for the service address. And if you’re in the wrong office, they can’t see any of your billing information.

Does the story get better? Yep. It gets even better. But that is for another time.
