Expanding Long URLs

Regarding the [LifeHacker][0] post on [LongURL Expands Short URLs So You Know Where You’re Going][1]:

> I appreciate the ability to expand a shortened URL, but I think in the end, they are bad for the internet as a whole. I don’t trust that the sites that are providing them will be around for any length of time, so I’m not planning to store anything sensitive in them.
